Art McAlonan

Qualified from the Royal Veterinary College London in 1996. He began his career in mixed practice in Staffordshire, then moved to a farm animal only practice in Cheshire.The opportunity to be integral in the formation of FarmVets SouthWest in 2006 was too good to miss and thus Art moved to the West Country. He is keen to continue the development of FarmVets SouthWest into an excellent, affordable practice for the farmers of Somerset and East Devon.

David Taylor

 

Qualified in 1998 from the Royal Veterinary College, London. He initially worked in mixed practice in Devon and then farm only in Wiltshire. He set up his own company in 2005 where he was sole veterinarian in charge of a few very large milking herds. This gave him great experience and knowledge of managing large dairy herds, which has been of much benefit to FarmVets SouthWest. 

 

David holds the Diploma in Bovine Nutrition and became a director in 2010.

Eoghan graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2004 and started working on the farm side of a large mixed practice in Derbyshire before joining FVSW in 2011. He is a Register of Mobility Scorers (ROMS) certified mobility scorer and an AHDB mastitis control plan deliverer. He became a director in 2011. He is currently studying for a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Cattle).

Cormac White

Cormac qualified from University College Dublin in 2015 and worked in Egypt and New Zealand before coming to Somerset. Main areas of interest include sheep health, flock and herd health planning and grazing systems. He is currently studying for Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Sheep) with the University of Liverpool.

Tom  

Tom Crosby

 

Tom qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2017.  Born in Gloucestershire, he grew up working on farms and enjoys sheep work, as well as having an interest in cattle fertility.  Outside of work, Tom is a keen rugby player and enjoys trout fishing. Tom is currently studying for a Diploma in Bovine Reproduction with the University of Liverpool.

Eliot Hedley
 
 
Eliot graduated from the RVC in 2019. His main interests include herd management and preventative
healthcare as well as data analysis, though he has been known to enjoy the odd LDA surgery.
Outside of work he likes to keep fit and is currently working on converting a van into a camper to go
away at the weekend

Luis Silva
 
 
Qualified from Porto University in 2012. Luis has a background in farming, his grandfather and father
used to have a small herd of beef cattle. He has worked in the Azores as a farm animal vet and has
previously worked for a large farm animal practice in the south of England. In his free time, he enjoys
long walks with his girlfriend, reading and going to the movies.

Goncalo Barrenho 

Qualified from Universidade de Evora in 2016. He began his career working for farm assurance as a technical advisor and certification officer for Red Tractor and Arlagården Dairy farms and Beef & Lamb farms around UK. He has a particular interest in healthy calf production, herd health planning, cattle fertility, advisory work and facilitating change on farm, always focusing on improving the animal health and welfare. His 2 years old daughter Isabela, takes up the rest of his time

Kath Long

 

Kath has been with FVSW from the very beginning and is well-known to all our Bridgwater clients. She is a qualified Veterinary Nurse and previously held a position as Head Nurse. Kath is our client accounts and personnel manager and works 4 days a week at our Bridgwater office. Her twin boys, Ollie and Tom take up the rest of her time!

Jackie Dyer

Jackie joined FVSW from Minster Vets back in 2008 when FVSW was formed and is well-known to all out Ilminster clients. Jackie works two days a week at the Ilminster branch where she takes care of our accounts. Outside of work Jackie enjoys keeping fit and trying to keep up with her two children Josh and Katie.

Holly Broom

 

Holly joined the practice in October 2011.  Holly was previously our TB queen before relinquishing her title to be involved in many other areas of the practice such as RCVS Practice Standards, XLFarmcare, TBAS and the day to day running of the practice and hopes to put her Foundation Degree in Business & Management which she completed in July 2017 to good use as Operations Manager from March 2020.  Holly previously worked in practices in Wiveliscombe and Taunton.

Shelly moved to the area six years ago and has worked within the veterinary industry for over 15 years.  Outside of work Shelly raises sheep, chickens and ducks on her small holding and inbetween looking after the animals enjoys taking her 1968 Morris Minor for a spin around the Quantock Hills

Molly Williams
Molly joined the practice back in September 2018, she works full-time across all three branches. Molly
previously worked at Shearwell Data and has always been around agriculture. When Molly is not
working, she likes to help back home on the family farm whenever she can. Molly has been an avid
Young Farmer member and enjoys many country pursuits and working her Springer Evie

Bethan Davies

Beth is our newest member to the team, she started back in March 2020. She works full time, mainly in the Bridgwater office. She does not have any veterinary or farming background but is very interested in educating herself. In her spare time, she loves to make digital art and taking her Alaskan Malamute out for walk.
