Art McAlonan

A founding member of our practice, Art graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1996, after which he gained experience at mixed and farm practices in Staffordshire and Cheshire. He moved to the south west in 2006, as the opportunity to be integral in the formation of FarmVets SouthWest was too good to miss. He is keen to continue the development of our reputation as a quality, affordable practice for the farmers of Somerset and East Devon.

David Taylor

After graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in 1998, David worked at a mixed practice in Devon and a farm practice in Wiltshire. He set up his own company in 2005, where he was sole veterinarian in charge of a few very large milking herds. This allowed him to develop sound experience in and knowledge of managing large dairy herds, which has been of much benefit to our practice. He holds a diploma in bovine nutrition and became a clinical director in 2010.

Eoghan McAlonan

Eoghan graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2004 and started his career on the farm side of a large mixed practice in Derbyshire, before joining us in 2011. He became a clinical director the following year, and spends most of his time on dairy farms. He enjoys fertility work and tackling mastitis investigations across the practice, and was awarded the Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in 2023.

Victoria White

Victoria joined the practice in 2021, shortly after graduating from the Royal Veterinary College. Having grown up in Somerset on her family’s farm, she enjoys all aspects of farm animal practice. In her spare time, she can often be found helping out at home on the farm or in the kitchen baking.

Matilda Lovegrove

Matilda joined FarmVets in August 2024. She grew up and trained in South Australia, graduating from the University of Adelaide in 2020. Matilda has worked in mixed and farm practices with a main interest in dairy medicine and surgery. Outside of work she enjoys travelling and running.

Toby Johnson

Toby graduated from University of Surrey in 2024 and joined our team the following year. His first farming experience was volunteering on a city farm in London, and ever since he’s been trying to gain as much hands-on experience as possible. He is particularly interested in bovine reproduction data, and when he isn’t looking at submission rates, he enjoys hiking and taking trips to the beach.

Rya Jones

Rya is from South Wales. She graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 2019, then began work as a farm vet in Devon at a largely beef and sheep practice. Rya started work with FarmVets Southwest in November 2025 and enjoys working with small ruminants, continuing the Commercial Flock Club. Rya’s hobbies include gardening and clay sculpture.

Georgia joined our team in 2022 and enjoys helping out on her family smallholding. When she’s not working, she likes keeping fit and showing her pedigree Kerry Hill sheep at county shows.

Laura Smith

Laura has been with us since 2022, and has worked as a Suitable Qualified Person (SQP) in veterinary practices since 2017, while working consistently on dairy farms since leaving college. In her spare time, she still continues with relief milking and enjoys trail running.

Sophie Turner

Sophie joined the practice to work full time as an ATT and Vet Tech in June 2025. Before Sophie joined FVSW she worked on a dairy, beef and arable farm and has always enjoyed being around cattle! In Sophie’s spare time she enjoys going to young farmers and helping her partner with his Pedigree Black Welsh Mountain sheep.

Kathryn Long

Kath has been with us since the very beginning and is well known to all of our Bridgwater clients. She is a qualified Veterinary Nurse and previously held a position as Head Nurse. Kath is our client accounts and personnel manager. Her twin boys, Ollie and Tom take up the rest of her time!

Holly holds a foundation degree in business and management and previously worked at veterinary practices in Wiveliscombe and Taunton. She joined the practice in 2011 and is involved in many areas of the practice such as, RCVS Practice Standards, UKFarmcare, TBAS and day-to-day operations.

Jackie Dyer

Before joining us when we launched in 2008, Jackie worked at Snell and Hutchinson in Ilminster. She is based at our Ilminster site and takes care of our accounts. Outside of work, she enjoys keeping fit and trying to keep up with her children.

Molly Williams

Molly joined the practice in 2018 and works across all of our branches. She has always had a passion for agriculture, having previously worked at an animal identification provider. When she’s not working, she likes to help out at her family farm whenever she can. She is also an avid Young Farmers member and enjoys many country pursuits, including working her dogs, Evie and Douglas.

Claire Mackay

Before joining the practice in 2023, Claire worked as a Registered Veterinary Nurse for many years at small animal and mixed practices. She grew up on a dairy farm, so enjoys seeing how things have moved on in the industry. When she’s not working, she likes visiting the beach with her dog, Milo.

Lauryn Turner

Lauryn joined the practice in December 2025 and works full time across all 3 branches. Lauryn has previously worked on a local goat farm and is eager to expand her knowledge. Lauryn enjoys chilled weekends walking her dogs with her partner and keeping fit in her spare time.

Kirsty Padden-Barr

Kirsty joined the practice in April 2026. Kirsty is a Registered Veterinary Nurse with experience in both small and mixed practices, having worked as an RVN, Head RVN, and Practice Manager. Originally from Nottinghamshire, she relocated to Somerset in 2003. Outside of work, Kirsty enjoys travelling with her husband, F1, attending theatre and concerts, and curling up with a good book.
