Our experienced team provides a range of services to help keep your farm animals healthy and productive

Our services
We take a proactive, whole herd approach to dairy herd health that focuses on disease management and prevention in order to maximise cow health, welfare and profitability.
We appreciate that every dairy farm is different, and as such create a tailored and bespoke level of veterinary intervention that best suits you and your herd.
We also provide a 24-hour farm service for any emergency calls.
Our dairy services include:
- Herd fertility services. Weekly, fortnightly or monthly routine visits with your own dedicated Vet. Every vet carries portable scanners. Veterinary teams are an integral part of fertility management on dairy farms. We can support with problem breeders, synchronisations, data analysis, semen evaluation and much more. We leave no stone unturned when it comes to your herd’s fertility performance, as poor fertility this year = no milk next year!

Our discussion groups
- The FVSW Dairy Grazing Group meets on-farm once a month from March to November with each member taking a turn to host. At each meeting we discuss relevant issues around grazing and have a farm walk led by the hosting farmer. It is informal with a lot of chat about successes and failures and a good mix of new entrants and “old-hands”. Above all, the group is welcoming and supportive, especially of those who are starting out on improving grazing management. The group contains members with a range of calving patterns and milk yields and all who aim to improve grazing management are welcome.
- Group members all measure grass covers with a plate meter and operate rotation grazing systems with grass measurements figures entered onto a programme called Agrinet. The group is run by one of our vets, David Taylor, and he would be more than keen to chat with any client or non-client that is interested in knowing more. The aim of the group is simple, to maximise milk from grass in a drive to reduce costs whilst maintaining herd production and health.
- Our commercial flock club is a tailored discussion group aimed improving the health and production efficiency of their flocks. We host quarterly meetings on seasonally relevant topics and create benchmarks within the group aimed at reducing production costs from matters such as ewe nutrition, reproductive diseases, worm management, lameness, iceberg diseases and trace elements.
- Our member receive discounts on parasite monitoring and up to date worm advice as well as discounted routine vet time for health plans and required paperwork including VANs and Red Tractor.
- Our small flock club provides a discussion group and practical training courses for sheep and goat smallholders. We host quarterly meetings on farm and cover a wide range of topics catered specifically to smaller flocks, including our practical lambing course. We have a dedicated messaging group facilitated by our vets that answers common questions and allows our members to support each other in looking after their flocks.
- The health and welfare of every sized flock is important to us and our small flock club membership includes discounts on parasite monitoring as well as bespoke annual flock health planning.
